The Philosophy of Science Department at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IPS-BAS) is organizing a conference on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Niels Bohr’s birth. The conference aims to bring together scientists interested in Bohr’s philosophy, his fundamental works and the conceptual interpretations of quantum theory. The thematic field of the conference is divided into two main areas: 1) The philosophy of Niels Bohr and its reception in the contemporary philosophy of science; 2) The main crossing points between the problem fields of philosophy and physics. Debates regarding different interpretations and philosophical approaches to the understanding of quantum theory. We welcome abstracts in the following topics, but not limited to:
Niels Bohr’s philosophy and its relationship with quantum mechanics; Bohr and logical positivism; Bohr and transcendentalism; the Copenhagen interpretation; Bohr’s historical contribution to the creation of quantum mechanics; Bohr – Einstein debate; scientific realism; scientific antirealism; scientific realism-antirealism debate; scientific perspectivism; Qbism; philosophy of quantum mechanics; philosophy of physics,etc.
The applications must contain: title, author’s names, affiliation, email, abstract between 250 and 350 words, keywords. They must be submitted via the button below referring to an electronic form. The planned time for the paper presentations is 30 min. + 10 min. for questions and answers. Pay attention that the presentation time could be changed in accordance with the number of accepted applications for presentation.

The conference is hybrid (in-person and online). There is no registration fee for the conference. Unfortunately, we are unable to cover any travel expenses or expenses during your stay. However, those who cannot afford traveling are highly welcome to submit an abstract for online participation.
